Five years after the dreadful events of the Calamity, the three major city-states were at a weakened state, as most of their armies were devastated by the Battle of Carteneau. The Garlean Empire’s XIVth Legion still held land in the borders of Eorzea and the beast tribes were becoming restless due to the weakened state of the three great nations. The threat of war loomed on all sides, each waiting to make the first move that will lead to the destruction of Eorzea.
Four Adventurers, Orassam Malaguld, Vandill Inman, Kiku Gaka, and Rhiya Kareu, were brought together to investigate the ever growing threat of the beast tribes and the sudden emergence of the Primal threat. The gods of the beast tribes threatened to shake the already fragile structure of the three nations. The Four Adventures, new recruits to the secretive organization, The Scions of the Seventh Dawn, were sent to investigate this threat and somehow, as was the goal of all Scions, find a way to quell this threat once and for all.
They were sent on a mission in La Noscea as there was intelligence that the ocean-dwelling Sahagin were in possession of Aetheric crystals that they planned to summon their Eikon, The Lord of Whorl, Leviathan that would threaten to cause a tidal wave large enough to destroy Limsa Lominsa. As the Four Adventurers come together in preparation for their mission, they soon head out to discover the plot of the Sahagin. However, they were shocked to see what they find.
In a cave system that leads to a cove on the shores of La Noscea, they find that bandits have been working with the Sahagin and supplying them Aether crystals. The question now was, where did the bandits come across such a supply themselves? After the mission, they all sit around in an inn to discuss the going ons. As each member discussed the details of the mission, questions began to arise and fill the air between them.
“Where did those crystals come from? And why now? But I think the largest question we should be asking, as individuals is, why are the primals only now becoming a threat?”
The increase of the Primal threat was indeed sudden. While they have been summoned before and taken care of, why is it now that the threat is so great? These are the questions that now permeated into the minds of the Four Adventurers. The question soon transformed. What if the Scions are missing a major piece of the puzzle? What if there is someone, or something else at play here that is making this primal threat so great?
The Four Adventurers went on several more missions together before the questions that have lingered in the back of their minds began to eat at them until they obsessed over them. There was something looming that others were not seeing. Many people did not believe them but they felt in their bones that something was amiss. They started to feel like outcasts within the Scions, their theories looked down on by all others.
The Four Adventurers, fundamentally disagreeing with the approach of the Scions, left the secretive organization to form their own small Free Company. They believed that in order to fully protect Eorzea, they must do so with the will of the public. They believed that they must challenge all threats, not just the primals, to uncover the truth of the elusive hand that is causing this chaos. They have come together to create Astral Dawn: a Free Company that has come together to protect Eorzea from all threats and one that will continue to grow until all threats, Beast Tribes or Garleans are vanquished and peace is brought to the land.
